How To Make Gnocchi

A great way to use potatoes and create a satisfying meal for you family is by learning how to make gnocchi.

While this photo tutorial shows just one way to make gnocchi, you can make it with butternut or sweet potatoes instead.Potato gnocchi is one of our favourite filling meals and is a type of “pasta-dumpling” which is tasy and satisfying for the frugal cook.

When we have a lot of spinach in our veggie gardenI like to steam the spinach, chop it and add it to the dumpling mixture.

Cut off little squares (1cm) and then place on a dry dish clothe. Boil a large pot of water, add salt. Place gnocchi in the water until they float. Remove and drain.

You can serve gnocchi with a bolognaise sauce, alfredo sauce, or this simple spinach and cream pasta sauce.

Steam a bunch of spinach. Grate a onion and fry in some butter with a little garlic. Add the spinach and toss. Pour in 500ml cream. Allow to reduce slightly. Put gnocchi in the sauce and gently stir to cover the dumplings.
